If you’ve been keeping up with the news lately, you’ll know that Russia's invasion of Ukraine, which began on the 24th of February 2022, has resulted in an ongoing war between both countries. Despite this, however, the Ukrainian people have remained hopeful and continue to fight for their beloved home. Stories of their bravery and resilience continue to be shared with the world and have inspired many to share their support in any way possible.

This invasion has sparked many protests worldwide in support of Ukraine’s fight against Vladimir Putin and Russian troops. Many atrocities, such as the bombing of Kyiv, Ukraine’s capital, have occurred throughout the country as Russia continues to fight for complete control over the nation. But the Ukrainian people have been anything but compliant as they refuse this idea and fight for their freedom alongside people and countries from all around the world.
Ukrainian Hope
Thousands of Ukrainians have enlisted in the army and have stayed in their homes in order to help in this fight. Among these is the Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky, who has chosen to stand with his country and join the military in order to help despite the United States’ offer of evacuation from Kyiv in the early days of the war. To which he responded, “The fight is here; I need ammunition, not a ride.” During his time fighting he has continued to spread messages of hope via video recordings.
Many more messages like his continue to be spread via social media. A Twitter user by the name of Kira Rudik tweeted, “There was always a question what would be the force that would stop #Putin. We thought it would be some great #unity of great #countries, and it will take ages to put together. But it was us. It was always us from the very beginning. So proud of #Ukrainian army and people!”
Women around Ukraine have shared their hope for the country’s victory, through social media posts expressing their preparedness to fight alongside their fellow Ukrainian men and military to protect their land. One twitter user expressed how “[Their] #women will protect [their] soil the same way as [their] #men. Go #Ukraine!”

Even though this war is still happening and has many probable outcomes the one thing that will remain is the pride, hope, and bravery many Ukrainian men and women have shown while facing adversity in such uncertain times.
