Fun Summer Activity Recommendations

By Jazmine Moran ‘24

As the summer season is approaching, you might be looking for some fun and unique things to do with or without your friends during this break. Here are three things to do around California that will definitely help keep you entertained. Whether you enjoy being outdoors and being active or indoors and reading a book, there is something for everyone.

Harley Farms

Harley Farms is a dairy farm in Pescadero, California. They are open every day from 11AM - 4PM and offer tours of the farm where you will get to meet all the wonderful creatures that roam the grounds. They sell their milk and cheese, as well as many other of their freshly produced products, in their store which you and your friends can enjoy while having a picnic at the picnic benches scattered around the farm. So, while you are there make sure to enjoy the walk and say "hi" to Jimmy the guardian alpaca and Caramel the boss cat. This location is great for taking pictures and enjoying the beautiful scenery.

City Lights Booksellers & Publishers

Located in San Francisco, California, this beautiful and unique bookstore has something for everyone. The City Lights focuses on the concept of publishing and selling books. The press has gone on to publish a wide range of titles, both by international and local authors, fiction and nonfiction, as well as poem and prose. They are known and respected for their commitments to innovative, creative, and progressive ideas as well as for their resistance to forces of conservatism and censorship. So, if you are looking for your next great read or just a fun new place to explore this store has got it all.

Church of 8 Wheels

Church of 8 Wheels, located in San Francisco, California, is a cool, funky, disco themed roller-skating rink. This isn’t your everyday roller rink however, this one is located inside an old, abandoned church. Adult size, rentable skates come with illuminated wheels which I think is pretty dang cool. Now if that still isn’t grabbing your attention, it's only fair to mention that this is one of the city's crown jewels and is definitely one of the coolest experiences thanks to its unique location and theme. So, grab your friends or family and head on over to this very cool, “only in San Francisco” experience.
