Free Dress Outfit Ideas

Everyone at Mercy loves the uniform, but it’s always nice to have our free dress days on Fridays! It gives us a chance to wear our own clothes and express ourselves. If you choose to put together a whole ensemble, or just be cozy and comfortable, we all have a reason to look forward to Fridays.

But if you’re the type of person who isn’t sure on what to wear, or spend an hour deciding the night before, here are some tips and ideas for what to wear!

Shoes

Almost everyone at Mercy makes the dreaded walk to Russell at least once a day. And even if you don’t, you still have to walk around campus to the cafeteria, the patio, or your other classes. Basically, comfortable shoes are a must. This means your favorite sneakers, boots, or even slippers!

The most common shoes recommended by your fellow Mercy students are shown below:

These three variations of tennis shoes we all know and love. They’re comfortable, fashionable, and go with any outfit!

Outerwear

Let’s face it. Mercy is cold and windy. If you’re stuck without a jacket, it really sucks. Any sort of jacket is a need. If it’s really cold, you might wanna pull out the puffy jacket. You can see most people around campus wearing any sort of hoodie, crew neck or zip up almost any day of the week.

Some of the most popular jackets, again recommended by Mercy students, are shown here:

Pants

Sometimes on Fridays, you just need to wear something you feel totally comfortable in. We all get it—it’s been a long week. Sweatpants, leggings, or your favorite pair of jeans are a common sight on Mercy’s campus. Everyone has them, and everyone knows them.

Here are some classics recommended by Mercy students:

To Remember…

Sometimes wearing free dress on Fridays can make us self-conscious or stressed, and that’s ok! It might be nerve-wracking. But as long as you wear clothes that make you feel true to yourself and comfortable, there’s nothing to worry about. Remember to shop sustainably and ethically and be sure to look out for good quality items that will last you a lifetime. And if you see someone in the halls who has an awesome outfit or a really cool accessory, don’t be afraid to compliment them, it’ll make their day. :)
